Membership in the Greater Albuquerque Chamber
of Commerce opens doors to a world of new business
opportunities.
Every year, numerous events are held encouraging
participation and interaction to enrich members both
professionally and personally. With member businesses from a
wide range of industries, we offer unlimited opportunities
through our extensive business network.

Albuquerque
Reads Literacy Luncheons
These events
are to thank all of our business tutors that have spent the past
school year helping kindergartens learn to read from the three
schools where the program has been implemented. The event also
thanks our school partners, students and sponsors.
Annual Meeting
An insightful
look at the accomplishments of the past year and the initiatives
ahead. Held each July, the onset of the Chamber’s fiscal year,
the event also features a nationally renowned speaker.
Armed Forces
Banquet
Held on Armed
Forces Day each May. A black-tie, formal event supporting our
local military. The largest event for all branches of the Armed
Forces in the state of New Mexico, awards are presented to
outstanding service men and women. The event also features a
nationally renowned military leader as the keynote speaker.
Best Practices
Events
Held two
times during the year, these events strive to provide
peer-to-peer education. Learn about topics important to you from
those who have done it and have done it well. Learn what they
did and how they did it. Hear about the lessons learned and what
to avoid. Incorporate real life, practical knowledge into your
business.
Business Booth
Camp
Members will
learn ways to maximize their booth spaces at our Chamber events
– namely Schmooze-a-Palooza and Connect, although knowledge
could be used for any type of tradeshow event. Held at a member
location two weeks prior to every Connect event – 5 times a
year. Free to Connect booth vendors, $15 all other members, and
$35 for non-members.
Business After
Business Member Receptions
Free
after-hours networking cocktail parties hosted by members on
months where there is not a Connect after-hours event. Cost is
$25 for non-members.
Business Card
Exchanges
At every
Chamber event, attendees will have the opportunity to trade
business cards with the members around them in a fun, 5-minute
exchange.
Business Day
in Santa Fe
A way for
members to discuss business issues with our state’s legislative
and administrative leaders. There is a great networking cocktail
party with almost all of the legislators present, the following
day has discussions on upcoming issues that affect business that
are slated to be worked on during the session.
Center for
Commercialization & Entrepreneurial Training
Monthly
classes which are an intensive “how-to” education on everything
from entering the entrepreneurial world, market research,
financial management, preparing and presenting a business plan,
and operations start-up, monitoring and human resources. Free of
charge for members.
Congressional
Luncheon Series
Members hear
from New Mexico’s representatives in the U.S. Senate and House
on issues that will affect their business. Held four times per
year.
Connect
After-Hours
After-hours
networking event held 5 times a year in different quadrants of
town – NE, NW, SE, SW and Downtown areas. Expo booth spaces are
available for $150 for members or $250 for non-members.
Attendees receive hors d’oeuvres, goodie bags and the chance to
win door prizes. Cash bar available. Free to attend for members
or $25 for non-members.
Distinguished
Speaker Series
These events
feature timely and often provocative presentations from renowned
speakers from around the United States and from around the
state. A few of our past speakers include the President of Shell
Oil, Governor Richardson and others.
Duke City
Dozen Awards
This event
provides recognition and awards for innovation, excellence and
contributions to the workplace and community by presenting ten
Innovate Albuquerque Awards, the Maxi Anderson Award, and the
Home-Based Business of the Year award.
Economic
Outlook Conference
This event
keeps our members ahead of the curve by presenting leading
economists who will provide our members with insight into local,
regional and national trends pertinent to Albuquerque.
Global
Connections Speaker Series
These events
offer unique opportunities to hear from renowned international
speakers, keeping members up-to-date on important global issues
related to business. A few of our past speakers include the
President of Mexico, the French & South Korean Ambassadors to
the US and more.
HobNob
Members enjoy
a non-partisan networking event prior to elections endorsed by
all of the state political parties – Republican, Democratic,
Independent and Green. Participants come face to face with the
candidates and find out where they stand on important issues,
ask questions, and voice their concerns all while networking and
enjoying appetizers and cash bar. $15 for members, $35 for
non-members.
Home-Based
Business Events
Monthly
events allow the home-based business owner to network with their
peers and showcase their products and services. The events
include free workshops on the unique issues faced by home-based
businesses. Free for members, $15 for non-members.
Innovate New
Mexico Conference
The Chamber
hosts innovative and entrepreneurial keynote speakers, candid
panel discussions about encouraging innovation, learning from
successful entrepreneurs, support and assistance that the
entrepreneur can receive in New Mexico and how New Mexico can
strengthen economic development, align current and future talent
force needs, and create a world-class education system to
support a strong entrepreneurial and innovative climate for
companies in New Mexico.
Inter-City
Visits
Members can
travel to locations that have been identified as having
successful approaches to issues that also face Albuquerque.
Examples of past visits include Sacramento and Washington D.C.
Leadership
Albuquerque Alumni Networking Events
The
association of more than 800 members who have graduated from the
Chamber’s Leadership Albuquerque program, the group offers the
opportunity to continue the intellectual growth, fun times, and
great friendships through various networking and other special
events.
Leadership
Conference
Members join
their peers for an exciting day of seminars, discussions, and
exploration of personal leadership. Workshops include topics on
professional and community development, leadership assessment,
and people management. The presentation of the 2008 Leadership
Award will be awarded during the luncheon.
Leadership
Forums
Members can
be up-to-date on what’s going on in the business community by
attending this event featuring Chamber President and Chairman of
the Board of Directors. They will inform the group about Chamber
initiatives, local business issues and trends, and listen to
their concerns as well. Attendees have an opportunity to
network, distribute promotional materials and introduce their
business to the group. The cost is $15 and is a members-only
event.
Legislative
Awards Banquet
Members can
network with legislators at this event designed to recognize and
honor those legislators who demonstrate support of the business
community’s agenda. Two seats from each table of ten are given
to a legislator and a guest.

Literacy Golf Tournament
One of the
premier tournaments in town benefits Albuquerque Reads program.
Members enjoy fun in the sun in an easy shotgun-scramble format
which is followed by a cocktail reception and awards dinner.
Managers
Toolbox Events
These events
are a lively and informative series of workshops that cover a
range of topics specifically designed to equip managers with the
skills needed to get ahead in our changing business world. These
workshops provide opportunities to sharpen skills, improve
productivity and increase profits with the help of experts. Past
events include “If You’re Not Out Selling, You’re Being Outsold”
and “Finders Keepers, Attracting and Retaining a New Generation
of Employees.”
Maximize Your
Membership Orientations
These monthly
events will show you how you and your staff can maximize your
membership through our orientation. This informative orientation
will allow you to see how we can best work together in order to
make sure that you are getting the most out of your Chamber
membership. Free of charge for members only.
Member Benefit
Briefing Open House
Members can
visit the chamber from 4:00 – 7:00 pm to network with each other
and to visit with Chamber staff that will be available to answer
questions about their divisions and ways for the member to get
involved and engaged. Held once a quarter.
New
Corporate/Community Leader Welcome Reception
This event is
for key thought leaders in the region to meet new corporate or
community leaders at our reception events.
Networking
Roundtable Workshops
Members can
take advantage of free mini-workshops on how to make the most of
your Chamber networking events by learning how to maximize your
networking efforts and develop long-lasting, win-win
relationships. Prior to every “Maximize Your Membership
Orientation.”
Policy Forums
Members are
kept up-to-date on issues such as healthcare, economic
development, and others presented by notable speakers. Past
speakers/topics include the President of UnitedHealthcare, the
ABQ Uptown Development, and others.
PowerNet
Networking
lunch event where pre-registration is required as space will be
limited. Moderator explains rules – 20 minutes at each table,
pass our cards and how they help people/what they do, switch
tables, start again. This event gives the chance for members to
network with each other in a more structured format. $15 for
members, $35 for non-members.
Schmooze-a-Palooza
- The 60-Minute Networking Event
An hour of
networking held prior to various Chamber events. There are 12
booths available free of charge to members on a first come,
first served basis and participants who visit them are entering
into fantastic door prize drawings.
Tour of the
State Capitol
Every year,
we co-sponsor a behind-the-scenes guided tour of the New Mexico
State Capitol at the start of the legislative session. Learn
about how the legislature works and get a tour while networking
with other business owners.
Working
Together Works Diversity Expo
Annual
after-hours networking event to provide an opportunity for
hundreds of business professionals to celebrate diversity in the
community and look for ways to work together and succeed. The
event is free to attend, and booth spaces available for $150 for
members, $250 for non-members.
Young Execs
Young Execs
provides business professionals in their 20’s and 30’s an avenue
to fast track their executive climb by learning about and
addressing issues facing their community. Monthly events
include business networking, luncheon speakers, after work
social activities, and civic engagement volunteer opportunities.
